I am starting a unit on Stop Motion with Grade 7 students and I am finding so many resources to use. I wish I had the time to review all the resources and organize the project into an age appropriate timeline for the students and myself. Even as I write this post I keep changing the order as I find more information.
Cathy Hunt is an art teacher whose post on her iPad Art Teacher blog, So You’re Starting to Think about Animation, was extremely well done and very helpful to me.
Another helpful blog, My Kids Adventure, the post, How to Make a Stop Motion Video With Your Kids: LEGO Style, was also informative and laid out sequentially.
Through my Google search and the sidetracking that always occurs I came across a site,
20 Different Types of Animation Techniques and Styles that explained, with examples, some of the information that I was looking for.
The I was sidetrack to a video about “The Making of Animation” by Archie Eka that I now will go back and add to my presentation for my students. It explains the PreProduction, Production and Post Production which reinforces what I have already taught them about film making.

Here is an amazing example of a stop motion music video, In Your Arms by Kina Grannis
and the best part is they did a How It’s Made Video which is incredible and so helpful for my students to see the work that needs to go into the creation of an amazing piece of art.
